Watch and Pray

Jesus asked his men to watch and pray
In the garden that fateful day.
Three times he returned to find they were sleeping,
The request he asked they were not keeping.
The hour had come for Him to be betrayed.
All He had asked them is to watch and pray.

Chorus:
My brothers I ask you to watch and pray.
To make this journey there's no other way.
The Spirit is ready but the flesh is weak.
The Kingdom of God you first must seek.
Temptation is waiting for you every day.
So, brothers, I ask again to watch and pray.

We need to have the mind of Christ
In everything about our life.
No matter what comes our way here below
Kindness to others we need to show.
All around there are things we can do today.
In our walk let's be willing to watch and pray.

Chorus.

When Jesus returns that glorious day
To carry us through the clouds away,
Let us be prepared and ready to leave,
When we hear the trump and His face we see.
To not be found sleeping by the way.
His word tells us to watch and pray.

Chorus.
