Years I spent so recklessly--not knowing Christ had died for me, Caring not what was ahead--by Satan I was being led. When I look back where I've been, dead in trespasses and sin, I'm so thankful He was with me, even then. Even then, God was with me, long before I knew His Son, Even then He was with me when I was lost and undone. When I look back o'er the years--many dangers--many fears. I can say that He was with me, even then. There's mistakes that I make, and for them I have to pay, When His voice I do not hear, causing many needless tears. Forgiveness is always there, when I kneel to Him in prayer. It's good to know He is with me, even then. Even then He is with me, when I stray from His will. Even then He is with me, when His love I cannot feel. When I try to go my way--not hearing what He has to say, What joy to know He is with me, even then. When my time down here is through and I've nothing more to do: When Death comes knocking at my door and to Heaven I will soar, I can close my eyes in peace--this war with sin will finally cease, Oh, praise God, He'll be with me, even then. Even then He'll be with me, when I have to cross that tide: Even then He'll be with me as I reach the other side. When it's time to say goodby, don't you worry, don't you sigh. It thrills my soul that He'll be with me, even then. By Karen Cox
